Pallis, 44 years after his death."},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"9548\" class=\"elementor elementor-9548\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-9f3818f elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"9f3818f\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-extended\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-7a43a0f sc_inner_width_none sc_content_align_inherit sc_layouts_column_icons_position_left\" data-id=\"7a43a0f\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a6d6da8 animation_type_block sc_fly_static elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a6d6da8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div style=\"color: black; font-family: GFS Didot, Sanas-serif;\"><p>The Ephorate of Antiquities of Ioannina, in cooperation with Zosimaia Public Central Historical Library of Ioannina and the Society of Friends of the Archaeological Museum of Ioannina, organized an event entitled \u201cAlexandros Pallis: the Intellectual from Ioannina 1851-1953\u201d.\u00a0<\/p><p>The event attempted to illuminate aspects from the life and work of the Intellectual from Ioannina, Alexandros Pallis, whose contribution to Greece and to greek letters has been invaluable.<\/p><p><strong><em>Alexandros Alexandrou Pallis<\/em><\/strong> has been the eldest son of the well-known \u201cDimotikistis\u201d [proponent of the common (Demotic) dialect], Alexandros Pallis. He studied Political Science in Balliol College, in one of the oldest and most renowned Oxford colleges, and he also received his Ph.D. by Oxford University. At times, he served as an administrative official in responsible positions, as Greek Representative of the Joint Commission for the Exchange of Greek-Turkish Populations (1924-25), as Greek Government Official in the International Committee for the Reconstruction of Refugees (1926-1930), as Representative for United Nations for the protection of stateless refugees, as Plenipotentiary Advisor in the Royal Greek Embassy of London and from 1946 to 1952, and he also served as a Director of the Press Office of the Greek Embassy there. He represented Greece across various International Conferences, related to the Postwar Reconstruction and other topics. He served as President of the reconstructed Society of Friends of the National Archaeological Museum (1958-1963). He completed his public career as a General Director of Athens News Agency in 1958.<\/p><p>Alongside his public duties, Al.Al.Pallis \u201cinherited\u201d from his father, his literary and philological interests. He wrote many studies on events and\/or political problems he faced as an official of the government and other bodies, and he also presented rich philological work.<\/p><p>His donation to Zosimaia begins in 1964 and ends after his death in 1976 with the Notarial Deed of Delivery of the Bequest Al.
