Ioannina hosted the World Puppetry Day, where the puppetry show Andrala was organized in cooperation with the puppetry center Unima Hellas.
A celebration for the young and the old, full of events, shows and a grand parade in the city center started on Friday 23 March and lasted until Sunday 25 March 2018. During those days, the city was transformed into a magical world of puppets, with the aim of showcasing the art of puppetry as a medium of artistic expression and recreation. In the World Puppetry Day, in Ioannina troupes from Thessaloniki, Athens, Karpathos, Crete, Larisa and, naturally, Ioannina participated. The puppets come to life each year with the help of several new volunteers, whose joy and talent seals the celebration.
